Last night during the highly ritualized routine of toothbrushing, as Jack rinsed the nozzle of his toothpaste, drained the water, and replaced the cap, he aligned the letters on the top with the letters on the bottom and said, "That's so perfect. It's as it should be."

Yikes.

It's been a long time since I hiked, alone or with friends. My bestie from childhood, Ana, has begun exploring trails around Tucson. Today I joined her for a 6 mile hike starting at the Richard Genser Starr Pass trailhead in Tucson Mountain Park. I plan to join her for as many Sunday mornings as I can manage. We've been friends since second grade. That's three decades plus. I'm totally rockin' the Brett Michaels vibe. Those must be Ana's favorite ratty shorts. She's had them forever. Our hiking companion, Chel, who Ana knows from high school. saguaros and chollas, oh my
