summoned

and selected. I'm serving jury duty, for a week, not at this charming courthouse but at the new one next door. When it's over I'll have much to reflect upon here; while I'm serving I have much to reflect upon privately.

Driving downtown every day since Tuesday has been an interesting change of routine for me. Each day we've had nearly two hours for lunch, time I've spent exploring downtown. I've lived in Tucson for the majority of my life, but I've lived within city limits for a short stint only. I wonder how I'd feel exchanging my foothills familiarity for in-city convenience, wildlife sightings for walking distance, starry skies for city lights... I admit I might like to try it.

I've only been to Tucson once, but had a wonderful time exploring it for the few days I was there. I hope your jury duty leads you to some interesting new spots.
By the way, your serenity prayer post the other day was beautiful. Working with and being around children can certainly help to put things in perspective. Take care, friend.

When I lived in Tucson, I was in law enforcement and spent many hours in that courthouse (as well as the city one as I worked county). I dreaded "court days" but would give almost anything to have them again. Sigh.

Do they still have the Saturday downtown nights?

This year we made it to Target but not to Starbucks, nor did we make it to Starbucks on Saturday, as we said we would on the way to the Deer Valley Goodwill. I have a gift card smoldering in my pocket so today, after buying spray paint and water marbles at JoAnn, I pulled up to the drive-thru at Starbucks. Usually I get some kind of blended iced vanilla chai thing. At the orderboard I was distracted by all the holiday drinks and opted for a white chocolate peppermint mocha, grande. One thing I will say for Starbucks: the employees are always uber-friendly. After ordering from the chirpy counterperson I pulled forward slightly, plugged in my ipod, and started a game of solitaire while listening to the White S...
